Dr. Bessler is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and of Molecular Biology and Pharmacology at Washington University School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from University Basel, Switzerland and her PhD in Medical Genetics at the University of London, UK. She completed a fellowship in Clinical Hematology at University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland as well as a research fellowship in Clinical Genetics at the Institute for Clinical Genetics, University Zurich, Switzerland. She has received numerous scientific awards and is a member of the American Cancer Society/Institutional Research Grant Committee. Dr. Bessler's major research goal is to improve the diagnosis care and treatment of patients with bone marrow failure (BMF). Her research focuses on the characterization of the different molecular and biochemical pathways that lead to BMF. By understanding these pathways, we hope to design better tools to diagnose BMF, to predict the course of the disease and the response to treatment, and ultimately to identify new targets for the development of new and more specific drugs suitable for the treatment BMF.

Dr. Wilson is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics and Molecular Biology and Pharmacology at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Wilson is also the Director of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Wilson received his medical degree and PhD from the Washington University School of Medicine. He completed his fellowship in Boston at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, The Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. His research interests include the evaluation of genetic changes which contribute to bone marrow failure and to bring the results and knowledge we obtain at the research bench to the bedside of patients with bone marrow failure.
